Climate scenarios adopted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). They describe four pathways of greenhouse gas concentrations and radiative forcing levels by 2100: RCP2.6 (1.5°C to 2°C), RCP4.5 (2°C to 3°C), RCP6.0 (2°C to 3°C) and RCP8.5 (>4°C). These scenarios represent a range of potential futures, from strong mitigation efforts (RCP2.6) to high emissions and severe warming (RCP8.5). RCPs are widely used in climate modelling to assess the impacts of different emission trajectories.
